China, Myanmar to invest $130 M in four agricultural centres in Myanmar

Myanmar Rice Federation and Myanmar Agribusiness Public Corporation signed a cooperation agreement with China’s state-owned CITIC construction group to construct agricultural centres in key regions, Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwaddy and Rakhine.

The Project worth $130 million (K 197 billion) and it aims to upgrade the quality of agricultural produce by providing services such as dryers and warehouses for post-harvest storage. It also plans to go into partnered cultivation, to support farmers in the marketing of high-quality products, and to arrange for systematic market access according to U Ye Min Aung, chair of the federation.


The centres will be set up in Twante Township in Yangon, Madaya Township in Mandalay, Kyaiklat Township in Ayeyarwady, and Kyauktaw Township in Rakhine.
