Foreign Investors to Start Investing in YSX by March 20th

· Economy,Investments

Finally foreigners will soon be able to invest in the stock exchange. The Yangon Stock exchange announced that it has submitted the number of shares that a foreigner can buy of company on the stock exchange. That information will be coming out soon. On March 20th foreigner will be able to invest in the companies listed. They will also increase the stock matching times from 4 to 6 times daily.

The stock exchange which was setup in 2015 has struggled to gain traction in Myanmar. Currently only 6 companies are on the stock exchange. There is hope that opening the exchange to foreign investment it will boost life into the exchange and encourage more companies to have aspirations to be included in the exchange. Right now the regulatory requirements can be met by only a few companies. Larger local companies that would be potentially interested in the stock exchange in Myanmar still operate as a traditional business and or don’t report transparent. There is hope with the introduction of foreign investors this will increase money for the exchange and give local companies more incentives to organize themselves for listing.
