GS 1 barcode granted to Myanmar

· Economy

Myanmar launched its own internationally recognized standard barcode on 22 February. Myanmar’s own barcode is 883. The GS 1 barcode system helps to identify key information about the product quickly and accurately, reduce damage, and control distribution.
The GS1 barcode granted to Myanmar will make it easier to export Myanmar products, said UMFCCI president U Zaw Min Win. “Our exporters used to need the help of barcode organizations in Thailand and Singapore but now we don’t need to rely on other countries because we have our own barcode,” he said.
Local businesses can buy barcode numbers for their products at the Myanmar Barcode Association (MBA) according to the UMFCCI.
