Import, export licenses to be fully online, says MOC

· Trade,Economy

The Ministry of Commerce has announced that applying for import/export licenses for more than 100 types of goods will be fully online starting from April 1, 2020 as part of efforts to implement social distancing to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Myanmar.

Essential goods such as pharmaceutical products, medical supplies for hospitals, consumer goods, chemical fertilizers, palm oil, and oil products, among others, are included in the categories.

Companies can apply and see the process through website www.myanmartradenet.com

Payments will be through Myanmar Citizen Bank’s (MCB) ecommerce system for the time being as efforts are being made for payments through the Myanmar Payment Union ecommerce system.

To apply online, the businesses will be required to secure a Myanmar Trade Net membership, install Google Authenticator on their hand phones for security, connect the Google Authenticator with Myanmar Trade Net Account, and open an account with MCB according to a spokesperson for the ministry.
