Ministry to Provide Loans to Farmers Affected by COVID-19

Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation will provide cash assistance, loan and give advice for market exploration to farmers affected by COVID-19.
The Livelihoods Recovery Committee meeting was held at the minister’s office in Nay Pyi Taw on May 5.

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Hla Kyaw said, under the government’s COVID-19 economic remedy plan, the ministry will carry out knowledge dissemination, implement cash assistance and agricultural loan schemes for income-losing farmers for the timely growing of paddy in rainy season and give advice for production, market exploration and implement cash for work program.

The deputy minister called on the officials to carry out the preplanning in order to step up the livelihood rehabilitation works after the containment of infectious diseases, create jobs in agro-based small and medium-sized businesses, mitigate the impacts on agricultural and livestock production works and carry out the successful implementation of works after the reviews of different regional situations.
