Myanmar to Buy 1600 MW of Power from India

The ministry of electricity and energy (MOEE) is planning to buy 1600 Megawatts of power from India through cross-border transmission. It will buy in three phases - 100 MW, 500 MW and up to 1000 MW in each phase.
“We will purchase surplus electricity from India and we are discussing the technical details now,” said Daw Su Su Soe, assistant secretary from MOEE.
Power prices have not been disclosed yet and Indian companies are now conducting ground surveys for the transmission line. The project is estimated to begin in 2025.
