Power Sector Tops Myanmar FDI in 7 Months

The power sector topped Myanmar's foreign direct investment (FDI) with over $1 billion of investment capital in the first seven months of current fiscal year (FY) 2019-2020 from six permitted foreign enterprises.

Total Foreign Direct Investment reached over $3.35 billion as of April 30 of current FY. Real estate sector stood second with $895 million, followed by the manufacturing sector with $544 million and others according to the government.

From FY 1988-1989 to April 30 of FY 2019-2020, 26.07 percent of foreign investment flowed into the country's power sector with capital of over $22.2 billion.
