Because people wanted to dive into businesses they knew had proven models. They wanted support from franchisors that will help them be successful during the next few years that will surely be economically difficult for most.

#1 McDonalds continues to innovate with its burgers, fries, chickens, and salads. With over 39,000 locations globally.
#2 Kentucky Fried Chicken keeps growing. In Myanmar and the rest of Asia KFC has exploded. With over 24,000 locations globally and counting, this secret recipe chicken place is not slowing down.
#3 Though there are many pizza franchises coming into play currently, none seem to be able to knock off Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut the original pizza franchise just can’t be topped. With over 17,000 world wide it is the envy of every pizza franchise owner…..even Pizza Company from Thailand copied everything about it.
#4 7 Eleven is THE mini mart or convenience store. In Thailand there is one on almost every corner and it’s the lifeblood of the economy selling everything from groceries to plane tickets. Although it’s not as possible as it once was in the U.S. it’s still thriving overseas. With almost 69,000 locations and still growing.
#5 As they say, “Everything Runs on Dunkin.” Starbucks tried to dethrone Dunkin Coffee and Donuts but has not been successful. Dunkin is a strong global brand with a variety of coffee drinks, donuts, and breakfast foods. It has over 13,000 locations globally.
#6 Dairy Queen which is famous for it’s blizzards, a delicious creamy ice cream blended with your choice of your favorite candy bar….mine being Oreo yummy. They also have hamburgers, hotdogs, and regular ice cream cones. They have become more aggressive in opening branches in Asia with over 7,000 locations worldwide.
#7 Kumon Math and Reading Centers is a supplemental education franchise for kids. They offer a tutoring and study method developed over 60 years ago by it’s founder. It has over 26,000 locations world wide and is aggressively growing.
#8 The famous ice cream shop Baskin Robbins has almost 8,000 locations world wide in 50 different countries. The 31 flavors they offer will leave you wanting to try them all. For me it’s ‘butter pecan’ and ‘pralines and cream’.
#9 Taco Bell is fast, cheap and one of the biggest franchises. If you are having a craving for quick Mexican food and have a big appetite then you probably ate a lot of Taco Bell growing up in the U.S. Innovative products and ever changing menu are a hallmark for this franchise. Taco Bell just opened its first location in Thailand in 2019 and looks to expand further.
#10 Anytime Fitness is a 24 hours a day fitness center that is open even when staff are not there. The people using the gym get an access card to get into the gym anytime even when no one is there. This fitness franchise now have almost 5,000 locations worldwide.
